About us
In this site, you will find mostly Congolese pieces and most of them coming from the Eastern and Central part of the RDC. (Republique Democratique du Congo).
The reason is simple: we are based in Kenya, which for decades, was the destination for the “rabatteurs” sent by a few collectors into eastern Congo.
About JFD
JFD has been collecting African Art since he bought his first pieces in Ivory Coast in 1973!
He has moved to Burundi and Rwanda in the 1990’s at a difficult time, with weekly trips to Bukavu. This is when he bought a good part of his collection, mostly Lega. He was buying through 2 or 3 antique dealers who were more trustworthy than most…
He is based in Nairobi now, where a few quality pieces are still coming up through a congolese connection. And he now has hundreds of pieces ranging from medium quality to very interesting!
He hopes to sell many through this site, in particular a large number of lega masks that he bought in Bukavu.
At age 74, he still has the African Art collector’s virus…, so he needs your money to buy more!!!
